CRFC was pleased to offer a unique opportunity to Chicago area educators to
join Project DEEP in working with European colleagues to improve civic
education in our respective countries.
CRFC hosted three country teams during the spring of 2002:
-
a Czech delegation, April 14 - 23;
-
an Uzbek delegation, April 28-May 7; and
-
an Estonian delegation, May 12 - 21.
CRFC selected local elementary and secondary school teachers and/or
administrators that applied to participate in the program and matched them with
the country teams. Twenty four educators from various schools and school
districts were chosen.
On June 26-28, U.S. participants will attend a DEEP Institute at Northwestern
University to discuss lessons learned, strategies for collaborative projects
and methodologies for strengthening civic education tailored to each country's
needs.
